There is a great example of Creating Contact Us Form with CallOuts at <a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/2013/06/30/create-a-quick-contact-us-or-feedback-form-in-sharepoint-2013-using-callouts/" target="_blank"><strong>LearningSharepoint.com</strong></a><br />
<br />
<img alt="SharePoint 2013 Contact Us Form" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-8577" height="297" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/ContactUsForm.png" width="640" /><br />
<br />
The example is quick and it works best when you need to add a Feedback form on multiple pages in your new SharePoint application. <br />
<br />
Download the script and try it out from the link @ <a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/2013/06/30/create-a-quick-contact-us-or-feedback-form-in-sharepoint-2013-using-callouts/" target="_blank"><strong>LearningSharepoint.com</strong></a>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8509383685242132753.post-59594960169465525642013-07-03T19:58:00.002-07:002013-07-03T19:58:41.157-07:00SharePoint 2013 Usage ReportsSharePoint 2013 writes usage and health data to the logging folder and
to the logging database. You can use the SharePoint Central
Administration website to configure health data collection settings.<br />
<br />
Usage reports allow you to track activity on pages
through number of hits and number of unique users for a site or site
collection on a daily and monthly basis. <br />
<br />
The new Analytics Processing Component generates two reports that are based on usage event types:<br />
<br />
<ul>
<li class="unordered">
<strong>Popularity Trends</strong> shows usage event statistics for a site collection, a site, or an individual item in a library or list.</li>
<li class="unordered">
<strong>Most Popular Items</strong> shows usage event statistics for all items in a library or list.<br />
</li>
</ul>
<br />
The reports are broken down per usage event type. The default usage event types are as follows: <br />
<br />
<ul>
<li class="unordered">
<strong>Views.</strong> The number of views for a single item, page or document.<br />
</li>
<li class="unordered">
<strong>Recommendations Displayed.</strong> The number of times a single item, page or document was displayed as a recommendation.<br />
</li>
<li class="unordered">
<strong>Recommendations Clicked.</strong> The number of times s single item, page or document was clicked when it was displayed as a recommendation.<br />
</li>
</ul>
<br />
If you have added any custom usage event types, these will also be displayed.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8509383685242132753.post-52749284251594939942013-07-03T19:53:00.003-07:002013-07-03T19:53:23.189-07:00Cannot Check In multiple documnets in SharePoint 2013Today I have a quick tip for you. If you’re looking for reason why you
have the “Check In” button disabled\Grayed Out in SharePoint 2013, here
is the quick explanation to that – <br />
<br />
You probably have selected one or more documents from your document
Library and looking to Check them In using the “Check In” button in the
Ribbon.<br />
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/CheckIn.png"><img alt="SharePoint 2013 Check In" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-8328" height="384" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/CheckIn.png" width="368" /></a><br />
<br />
If you have the above button disabled simply scroll through the
entire library view and make sure that you have not inadvertently
selected a file that was already checked in. <br />
<br />
See the below screen where we selected one of the Checked In files
and the Check In button is Grayed Out (which BTW totally make sense).<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/SelectedCheckedIn.png"><img alt="Share Point 2013 Checked In Grayed Out" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-8329" height="215" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/SelectedCheckedIn.png" width="400" /></a><br />

Check the Original article or see below for brief description<br />
<br />
For any Field that displays CallOuts two properties are set – one to show the CallOut Popup link and other to set if the displaying CallOut is even allowed for a Field or not.<br />
<br />
<span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>SPField.CalloutMenu -</strong> </span>This property gets or sets an indication of whether the field shows a link to the Callout menu. In other words, If this property is <em>true </em>the link to the CallOut (i.e. ‘…’) is displayed. If set to False the link is not shown.<br />
<br />
<span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>SPField.CalloutMenuAllowed -</strong></span> This property gets or sets an indication of whether showing the callout menu in the field is allowed, prohibited, or is optional and determined by the CalloutMenu property.<br />
<br />
You can Create a Custom Field type with “SPField.CalloutMenuAllowed” as disabled and use this custom field instead of the Out of Box to hide the CallOut.<br />
<br />
Another workaround method is defined at <a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/2013/05/18/hide-callouts-in-a-sharepoint-2013-task-list/" target="_blank"><strong>Hide CallOuts in a SharePoint 2013 Task List</strong></a>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8509383685242132753.post-86543382767977133072013-05-11T14:41:00.000-07:002013-05-11T14:44:37.433-07:00Disable Quick editing and Select Item(Checkmarks) in SharePoint 2013 <h4>

Display templates control which managed properties are shown in the search results, and how they appear in the Web Part.<br />
<br />
Each display template is made of two files: HTML version of the display template that you can edit in your HTML editor, and a .js file that SharePoint uses.<br />
<br />
When you create a display template by copying the HTML file for an existing display template in the Display Templates folder in the Master Page Gallery:<br />
<br />
* A .js file that has the same name is created in the location where you copied the HTML file.<br />
* All markup required by SharePoint Server 2013 is added to the .js file so that the display template displays correctly.<br />
<br />
* The HTML file and the .js file are associated, so that any later edits to the HTML file are synched to the .js file when the HTML file is saved.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/AnnouncementsImage1.png" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"></a><a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/WikiPageWithoutRatings.png" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"></a>Please Note : The syncing goes in one direction only. Changes to the HTML display template are synched to the associated .js file.<br />
<br />
There are two primary types of Display Templates -<br />
<br />
* Control templates determine the overall structure of how the results are presented. Includes lists, lists with paging, and slide shows.<br />
* Item templates determine how each result in the set is displayed. Includes images, text, video, and other items.<br />
<br />
<b>The HTML file - </b><br />
The HTML file that is used for a display template is a fully-formed HTML
document, but it does not represent a full HTML webpage. SharePoint
converts the pieces of the display template HTML file into JavaScript.
This section describes the four major sections of a display template.<br />
<br />
<strong>Title tag - </strong>The text in the <title> tag in a display template file is used as the display name in the Display Templates section of the Web Part edit pane when the Search Web Part is in edit mode.<br />
<br />
<strong>Header properties -</strong> <br />
<br />Immediately after the title tag, there is a set of custom elements bounded by the following markup. <br />
<pre><span style="color: green;"><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml><br /><mso:CustomDocumentProperties><br />…<br /></mso:CustomDocumentProperties><br /></xml><![endif]</title><br />
<br />
These elements and their properties provide important information to the SharePoint environment about the display template. Image Rendition is a new Feature in SharePoint 2013 with
which users can re-size Images to a fix pre-defined Image Template and
use them in WebParts or on a SharePoint Page. A perfect example when a
user want to use fixed size Images is when they want to add an Image in a
Blog Posts or in an Announcement Body. The Images in this case should
be of fixed size to adhere to the rules of the desired formatting. <br />
<br />
To Create a Column in a Document Library or a List that allows
end-users to Choose Images from a SharePoint Library (like Images or
Site Asserts) along with the required Image Rendition, we need to first
Create a Site Column of type <em>“Image with formatting and constraints for publishing”</em>
in our SharePoint site. The SharePoint Site should be either Created
from a Publishing Template or has Publishing Feature enabled. Lets look
the Steps to Create Such a Column and use it with one of the Image
Rendition in Announcements Library. <br />

1. Navigate to Site Columns in Site Settings under ‘Web Designer Galleries’.<br />
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/SiteColumns.png"><img alt="SharePoint 2013 Site Columns" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-7539" height="297" unselectable="on" width="456" /></a><br />
<br />
2. On Site Columns page, Click on “Create” button.<br />
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/CreateSiteColumn.png"><img alt="SharePoint 2013 Create Site Column" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-7540" height="141" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/CreateSiteColumn.png" width="433" /></a><br />

<br />
Lets look at the Steps to Create a new Custom Wiki Page Layout and set it as a default for Creating Wiki Pages in a Wiki Site.<br />
<br />
1. Create a Custom Wiki Page Layout – To Do this first navigate to Site Settings (settings wheel) -> Design Manager.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/DesignManager.png"><img alt="SharePoint 2013 Design Manager" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-7606" height="87" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/DesignManager.png" width="364" /></a><br />
<br />
2. In Design Manager select “6. Edit Page Layouts” and then “Create a page layout”<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/CreateLayoutPage.png"><img alt="SharePoint 2013 Create Layout Page" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-7607" height="243" unselectable="on" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
3. Next in <em>“Create a Page Layout”</em> popup add a name of the
new Custom Layout Page and Select Master Page that you are using on the
site. Select “Enterprise Wiki Page” as the Parent Content Type and click
Ok.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/CreatenewLayoutPage.png"><img alt="SharePoint 2013 Create New Layout Page" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-7609" height="512" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/CreatenewLayoutPage.png" width="641" /></a><br />
<br />
Once the Layout page is Created it gets added in Design Manager and Master Page gallery as a Draft Version.See below<br />
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/CustomWikiPageLayout.png"><img alt="SharePoint 2013 Custom Wiki Page Layout" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-7610" height="212" unselectable="on" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
Since this new Layout is inheriting fields form Enterprise Wiki Page, it still has Rating & Categories added to it.<br />
<br />
4. Next to Remove Page Rating & Categories from the new Wiki Page
type Layout that we just created, navigate to the Master Page gallery
of your site.<br />
<br />
5. In SharePoint 2013 by default, for each Page Layout, two files – .aspx and html are Created (see below).<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/twolayouts.png"><img alt="SharePoint 2013 Layout Pages" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-7614" height="39" unselectable="on" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
If you need to make any Changes to the Layout, you need to download the .html file of your layout page and make Changes to it.<br />
In our case since we want to remove the Page Rating and Categories
Control we will download the .html file of our new Page layout to remove
the unwanted controls from it.<br />
<br />
To Download the html file (in the master page gallery) select the ECB
menu of your Custom Layout page’s html and Download a Copy. See screen
below<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Downlaodascopy.png"><img alt="SharePoint 2013 Download as Copy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-7611" height="353" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Downlaodascopy.png" width="357" /></a><br />
<br />
6. Once you have downloaded the Page Open it in a Notepad and look
for the “Rating” div. Select and remove Divs that you do not need. See the
selected divs as you see in the screen below and delete them.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/PageLayoutnotepad.png"><img alt="SharePoint 2013 Custom PageLayout" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-7612" height="498" unselectable="on" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
Once done editing save and upload the notepad (html file) in the master page gallery.<br />
<br />
7. Lastly, publish the Html Page to make it available for the sites to use. See screen below.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Publishasversion.png"><img alt="SharePoint 2013 Publish as Major Version" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-7615" height="364" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Publishasversion.png" width="431" /></a><br />
<br />
The new Layout is ready to be used but to make it available in the
Wiki Site, we need to add it in allowed Page Layouts in “Page layouts
and site templates” in the Wiki Site’s Site settings.<br />
<br />
8. Navigate to the Wiki Site -> Site Settings. Select “Page layouts and site templates” under Look and Feel.<br />
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Page-layouts-and-site-templates.png"><img alt="SharePoint 2013 Page layouts and site templates" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-7620" height="165" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Page-layouts-and-site-templates.png" width="499" /></a><br />
<br />
9. In “Page layouts and site templates” page under “Page Layouts”
section the select the newly Created Wiki Layout and add it to the box
on the right under “Pages in this site can only use the following
layouts:”. You can also set this a default layout for when you Create
wiki page using “Add a Page” in site Setting menu. See below.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/PageLayoutdefaultPage.png"><img alt="SharePoint 2013 Page Layout & default Page" class="size-full wp-image-7621" height="352" unselectable="on" width="640" /></a> SharePoint 2013<br />
<br />
Once your are done save the settings.<br />
<br />
10. Finally, test the new Layout by Creating a new Wiki page using
“Add a Page” from the Settings menu (see screen below). The new Wiki
Page should be Created Without ratings & categories on the right.<br />
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/addapage.png"><img alt="SharePoint 2013 Add a Page" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-7622" height="353" unselectable="on" width="210" /></a><br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Giveita-name.png"><img alt="SharePoint 2013 Page name" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-7623" height="203" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Giveita-name.png" width="615" /></a><br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
<div class="entry-content">
At some point, as a SharePoint Site Admin, you must have added users into the default “<em><strong>Members</strong></em>” group of your SharePoint site.As seen in earlier SharePoint Versions, this “<em>Members</em>” group (that gets Created with your Site) by default, has <em>Contribute </em>Permission level assigned to it. Typically, the Contribute permission level provides users added to the Members group with <em>“view, add, update, and delete list items and documents”</em>
capabilities. This is all right because in the normal SharePoint world
this is what we expect Site Members to do – but only in earlier
SharePoint Versions. In SharePoint 2013, the permission level to default “<em><strong>Members</strong></em>” group was enhanced to Provide users with <em>add, edit and delete </em>Capabilities for the list.<br />
<br />
The default Members group In SharePoint 2013 now has a new Permission level called <strong><span style="color: red;">“Edit”</span></strong>.<br />
Navigate to Site Settings -> “Site Permissions” and look for the “Team Site Members” group. See the permission level “Edit”.<br />
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/TeamSiteMembers.png"><img alt="SharePoint 2013 Team Site Members" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-7849" height="381" unselectable="on" width="632" /></a><br />
<strong>Please Note -</strong> Members group Can also have Contribute
permission level by default. It depends on the Site Template that you
have used to Create a Site.<br />
<br />
With Edit Permission level, In addition to the Typical Contribute Permission users are now able to <em>“add, edit and delete lists</em> in your SharePoint 2013 Site.<br />
<br />
<strong>Edit Permission level</strong> – <em>“Can add, edit and delete lists; can view, add, update and delete list items and documents.”</em>. The Screen below shows difference between Contribute & Edit Permissions.<br />
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/EditandContribute.png"><img alt="SharePoint 2013 Edit and Contribute" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-7847" height="216" unselectable="on" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
So, now that you know your Members by default have Capabilities to
edit and delete a list, you should Change the default Permission level
of Members group to Contribute before adding users into it. See
Step-by-Step Tutorial on <a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/2013/05/09/sharepoint-2013-adding-users-to-default-members-group-change-the-edit-permission-level-first/www.learningsharepoint.com/2013/05/09/how-to-change-default-permission-level-for-a-group-in-sharepoint-2013-edit-to-contribute/" target="_blank" title="How to Change default Permission Level for a group in SharePoint 2013 (“Edit” to “Contribute”)">How to Change default Permission Level for a group in SharePoint 2013 (from ‘Edit’ to ‘Contribute’)</a><br />

<br />
<span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>How to Edit Page Layout</strong></span><br />
In SharePoint 2013 for every Layout page two files – .aspx and html are Created by default.For making Changes to the Custom Layout, you need to download the html file of the layout page and make Changes to it. The modified html file is then saved back to the MasterPage Page gallery and the corresponding .aspx file gets updated automatically.<br />
<br />
In our case below are two files created.<br />
<div class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-6794" title="SharePoint 2013 Custom Layout files">
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/customlayoutfiles.png"><img alt=""SharePoint 2013 Custom Layout files"" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-6794" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/customlayoutfiles.png" height="86" title="SharePoint 2013 Custom Layout files" width="342" /></a></div>
<div class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-6794" title="SharePoint 2013 Custom Layout files">
</div>
<div class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-6794" title="SharePoint 2013 Custom Layout files">
To work with these files you can either navigate to the Master Page gallery of your site or you can download them by Mapping the MasterPage Gallery as a Netwrok drive .See the Step-by-Step tutorial on <a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/2013/03/01/error-windows-cannot-access-mapping-master-page-gallery-as-network-drive/" target="_blank" title="Map Master Page Gallery as Network drive">How to Map MasterPage Gallery as a Netwrok drive</a>.</div>
<div class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-6794" title="SharePoint 2013 Custom Layout files">
</div>
<div class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-6794" title="SharePoint 2013 Custom Layout files">
Once your download a copy of “Custom Page Layout.html” file( using ‘Download a Copy’ option in callup menu \ecb menu) you can simply add\remove the desired code snippets from the file and save it.</div>
<div class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-6794" title="SharePoint 2013 Custom Layout files">
</div>
<div class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-6794" title="SharePoint 2013 Custom Layout files">
Lets look at an example of adding a SharePoint field Control copied from the new <strong>Snippet Gallery feature</strong> into our Custom Layout page.</div>
<div class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-6794" title="SharePoint 2013 Custom Layout files">
</div>
By Definition -<em>Snippet Gallery is a feature that lets you add SharePoint Components to your HTML or Master Page Design file. Users can select a component like Navigation or Search box from the Gallery and configure its properties. They can then copy the HTML snippet that’s generated and add it to the HTML design file\Master page. After you add SharePoint components to your HTML files, you can use CSS to fully brand them</em><br />
<br />
To Open the Layout page in the Snippet Gallery click on the Custom page layout in Design Manager in “Edit Page Layout’s” list.See the screen below<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Pagecreated.png"><img alt=""SharePoint 2013 Create Layout Page"" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-6791" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Pagecreated.png" height="69" title="SharePoint 2013 Create Layout Page" width="572" /></a><br />
<br />
When you click on the layout you will be taken to the Preview page of your layout. Click on “Snippets” top right corner.See below<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/snnipet-gallery.png"><img alt=""SharePoint 2013 Snnipet Gallery"" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-6802" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/snnipet-gallery.png" height="305" title=""SharePoint 2013 Snippets Gallery"" width="621" /></a><br />
<br />
Next in the “Page Field” select “Article Date” field.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/articlefield.png"><img alt="" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-6811" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/articlefield.png" height="390" title="articlefield" width="228" /></a><br />
<br />
Once you select the Field, a preview of the Field and the corresponding HTML Code gets displayed. Copy the HMTL code for this field to clipboard and add it to our Layout Page’s HTML. Open the Layout Page in an editor of your choice and paste the Copied Code in it.<br />
<br />
See below<br />
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/addsnippet.png"><img alt=""SharePoint 2013 Add Snippet"" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-6833" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/addsnippet.png" height="411" title="SharePoint 2013 Add Snippet" width="665" /></a><br />
<br />
Save the Page and upload it back to MasterPage Gallery.<br />
<br />
Once the Layout is Updated you must Publish it again as a Major Version before using it.<br />
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Publishasversion.png"><img alt=""Page Layout Publish as Version"" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-6790" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Publishasversion.png" height="333" title="Page Layout Publish as Version" width="594" /></a><br />
<br />
Next Create a Page using the new Custom Layout (See Steps <a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/2013/03/03/create-a-custom-page-layout-in-sharepoint-2013/" target="_blank" title="Create a Custom Page Layout in SharePoint 2013">Here</a>) or edit the existing Layout for a page. <br />
<br />
Finally, Edit the page and View the Changes.Notice the “Article Date” field added to the layout of the page in the screen below.<br />

<br />
With JS Link reference to a JavaScript File in a WebPart, we can Control the Rendering of Fields & Items in a View, List Forms (Display,New,Edit) and event a WebPart.It is preferred that the <br />
JavaScript file should be Uploaded as a new JavaScript Display Template in Site’s Master Page Gallery.JavaScript Display Template Content Type has some special Site Columns added to it that will help specify the target element (view,form,webpart etc..) where the JavaScript File’s Custom Rendering will be Implemented.<br />
<br />
Lets Look at the Detailed Steps to Create a JavaScript File and use it in JS Link Property to Color Code List Items as per the Sales column Criteria. Here is the Before and After looks like -<br />
<br />
Initial List -<br /><a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/CreateCustomList_before.png"><img alt="Create Custom List before" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-7356" height="245" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/CreateCustomList_before.png" width="264" /></a><br />
<br />
Resulting items<br />
<br /><a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/ColorCodingListItems_after.png"><img alt="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/ColorCoding List Items after.png" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-7357" height="193" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/ColorCodingListItems_after.png" width="301" /></a><br />
<br />
Lets Look at the Steps -<br />
1. Create a JS File and Copy & Paste the below Script in your Js File. Save it as <em>ColorCode_Items_Script.Js</em><br />
(function () {<br />
var itemCtx = {};<br /> itemCtx.Templates = {};<br />
itemCtx.Templates.Header = “<div><b>Sales Data</b></div><ul>”;<br />itemCtx.Templates.Item = ItemOverrideFun;<br /> itemCtx.Templates.Footer = “</ul>”;<br />
itemCtx.BaseViewID = 1;<br /> itemCtx.ListTemplateType = 100;<br />
SPClientTemplates.TemplateManager.RegisterTemplateOverrides(itemCtx);<br /> })();<br />
function ItemOverrideFun(ctx) {<br />
if (ctx.CurrentItem.Sales == ‘< 20K’)<br /> {<br />return “<li style=’background-color: #52D017;width: 300px;height: 24px;’>” + ctx.CurrentItem.Title + ” – ” + ctx.CurrentItem.Sales + “</li></span>”;<br /> }<br />if (ctx.CurrentItem.Sales == ‘> 20K’)<br /> {<br />return “<li style=’background-color: #4AA02C;width: 300px;height: 24px;’>” + ctx.CurrentItem.Title + ” – ” + ctx.CurrentItem.Sales + “</li></span>”;<br /> }<br />if (ctx.CurrentItem.Sales == ‘< 10K’)<br /> {<br />return “<li style=’background-color: #FF0000;width: 300px;height: 24px;’>” + ctx.CurrentItem.Title + ” – ” + ctx.CurrentItem.Sales + “</li></span>”;<br /> }<br />if (ctx.CurrentItem.Sales == ‘> 10K’)<br /> {<br />return “<li style=’background-color: #D16587;width: 300px;height: 24px;’>” + ctx.CurrentItem.Title + ” – ” + ctx.CurrentItem.Sales + “</li></span>”;<br /> }<br /> }<br />
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/plugins/download-monitor/download.php?id=8"><u><b>Download Script</b></u></a><br />
<br />
2. Upload your js file in Master Page Gallery as a new JavaScript Display Template.For this example, we have Created and Uploaded a JavaScript File <em>“ColorCode_Items_Script.Js”</em> in our Master Page Gallery as a new JavaScript Display Template.See the detailed Steps at <a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/2013/03/31/uploading-javascript-js-files-as-javascript-display-template-in-sharepoint-2013/" target="_blank" title="Upload JavaScript Display Template in Master Page Gallery SharePoint 2013"><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Uploading JavaScript (JS Files) as JavaScript Display Template in SharePoint 2013</span></span></a><br />
3. Create a Custom List with Items like below.<br />
<br /><a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/CreateCustomList.png"><img alt="Create Custom List" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-7353" height="338" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/CreateCustomList.png" width="474" /></a><br />
<br />
4. Edit the WebPart and add JS Link reference path for the JavaScript File that you Upload in master Page Gallery.<br />
<br /> In our case the path is ‘~site/_catalogs/masterpage/ColorCode_Items_Script.js’<br />
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/JSLink1.png"><img alt="JS Link Reference" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-7354" height="447" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/JSLink1.png" width="360" /></a><br />
<br />
5. Once you hit apply the List Items should look like below.<br />
<br /><a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Resulting-Items.png"><img alt="Resulting Items" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-7355" height="243" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Resulting-Items.png" width="438" /></a>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8509383685242132753.post-57649606759880257392013-04-13T16:16:00.002-07:002013-04-13T16:43:38.366-07:00How to add “Related Items” Site Columns in a List - SharePoint 2013<strong>"Related Items"</strong> is a new Site Column that is a Part of Task Content type by default. With this Column you can add a reference (as Lookup) to another Item in same or different list or library as related entity.<br />
<br />
This Site Column is a part of Hidden group (“_Hidden”) by default and is not be listed in Site Columns. So to make it Visible in Site Columns of the Site, modify the Task Content type and Change the group of this Column to make it Visible. <br />
<br />
Lets look at the Steps -<br />
<br />
Navigate to Site settings -> Site Content Types<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/New-Picture-11.bmp"><img alt="" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/New-Picture-11.bmp" title="New Picture (11)" /></a><br />
<br />
Under List Content Types look for “Tasks”<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/New-Picture-81.bmp"><img alt="" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/New-Picture-81.bmp" title="New Picture (8)" /></a><br />
<br />
Click on “Tasks” and you would see the following Columns with “Related Items” at the bottom.<br />
<br />
Click on Related Items column and you would see something like below<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/New-Picture-13.bmp"><img alt="" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/New-Picture-13.bmp" title="New Picture (13)" /></a><br />
<br />
Click on “Edit Site Column”<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/New-Picture-141.bmp"><img alt="" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/New-Picture-141.bmp" title="New Picture (14)" /></a><br />
<br />
This is what you see here. Notice the _Hidden Group.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/New-Picture-16.bmp"><img alt="" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/New-Picture-16.bmp" title="New Picture (16)" /></a><br />
<br />
Click on Existing Group and then Change the Group this column belongs to. Click OK once done.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/New-Picture-171.bmp"><img alt="" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/New-Picture-171.bmp" title="New Picture (17)" /></a><br />
<br />
Next Navigate to Site Settings and select “Site columns”<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/New-Picture-20.bmp"><img alt="" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/New-Picture-20.bmp" title="New Picture (20)" /></a><br />
<br />
In Site Columns select your group with Show Groups filter.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/New-Picture-18.bmp"><img alt="" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/New-Picture-18.bmp" title="New Picture (18)" /></a><br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/New-Picture-211.bmp"><img alt="" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/New-Picture-211.bmp" title="New Picture (21)" /></a><br />
<br />
Now you can use this Site column in any list or Library.<br />

Error (“Windows Cannot Access ..”) Mapping Master Page Gallery as Network drive<br />
In the new Design Manager users have option to Upload Design Files or
Design packages that can be further edited in the Design Manager.The
option <em>“3. Upload Design Files”</em> in Design manager describes
that the best way to upload these files or packages is by mapping the
Master Page gallery as a Network drive.<br />
If you follow the MSDN article <a href="http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj733519.aspx" target="_blank" title="Here"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Here</span></a> it describes some simple steps to do this mapping but when you try to follow these you might run into the below error -<br />
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/MappingNetworkDr.png"><img alt=""Mapping Network Drive Sharepoint 2013"" class="wp-image-6689 aligncenter" height="239" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/MappingNetworkDr.png" title="Mapping Network Drive Sharepoint 2013" width="548" /></a><br />
This error occurs because of a missing feature “Desktop Experience”
in Windows Server 2012. Lets look at the options to add this feature and
add Master Page gallery as a Network drive.<br />
Firstly, copy the MasterPage gallery URL from the <em>“3. Upload Design Files”</em> option in Design Manager (See below)<br />
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/masterpage.png"><img alt=""Master Page SharePoint 2013"" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-6690" height="246" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/masterpage.png" title="Master Page SharePoint 2013" width="663" /></a><br />
<br />
Next Navigate to Manage -> Add Roles and Features in the server.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/ServerRolesandFetaures.png"><img alt=""Windows Server 2013 Roles and Fetaures"" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-6700" height="231" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/ServerRolesandFetaures.png" title="Windows Server 2013 RolesandFetaures" width="475" /></a><br />
<br />
Select next in the wizard<br />
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/wizard1.png"><img alt=""Windows Server 2012 Roles wizard"" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-6701" height="324" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/wizard1.png" title="Windows Server 2012 Roles wizard" width="445" /></a><br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/wizard2.png"><img alt=""Windows Server 2012 Wizard"" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-6702" height="338" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/wizard2.png" title="Windows Server 2012 Wizard" width="475" /></a><br />
<br />
Next select “Desktop Experience” as in the screen below (if not already selected) and select Next.<br />
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Desktop-experinec.png"><img alt="Desktop experience windows server 2012" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-6726" height="482" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Desktop-experinec.png" title="Desktop experience " width="660" /></a><br />
(We have already installed this feature and that’s why the feature says
“Installed” next to “Desktop Experience” in the screen above)<br />
The feature gets installed (see below)<br />
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/InstallationProgress.png"><img alt=""Installation Progress"" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-6707" height="435" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/InstallationProgress.png" title="InstallationProgress" width="616" /></a><br />
<br />
Once it’s finished you would need to <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>reboot the server</strong></span>.<br />
<br />
Now try adding the Mapping again.<br />
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/MapDrive.png"><img alt=""Map Drive Windows server 2012"" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-6723" height="369" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/MapDrive.png" title="Map Drive Windows server 2012" width="501" /></a><br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/Adding-the-mapping.png"><img alt=""Adding the mapping"" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-6710" height="393" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/Adding-the-mapping.png" title="Adding the mapping" width="538" /></a><br />
Finally you can Map the Master Page Gallery as a Network drive.<br />

In this post we will discuss some of the Important things to
note while deploying SharePoint 2010 Solutions in SharePoint 2013.
These results are based on Our experiences and findings from various
posts about migration around the web.<br />
Deploy SharePoint 2010 Solutions in SharePoint 2013 -<br />
<h4>
Migrating Custom Wsp Solutions -</h4>
Most of the wsp Solutions deployed in SharePoint 2010 should work
fine in SharePoint 2013. This is because of the Support for both 14 Hive
and 15 Hive directories that are Created in SharePoint 2013 by default.<br />
<br />
Initially, when you deploy a SharePoint 2010 Solution it gets
deployed to 14 Hive and not 15 Hive. To force the solution to install in
15 Hive you need to modify manifest.xml file of your solution and add
add<em>SharePointVersion=”15.0″</em> attribute to it. The Solutions can
be forced to install in 15 hive that way However, some of the files
especially that refers to _layouts might not work. All SharePoint 2010
Solution files that refers to _layouts folder (i.e. Features,
Layouts-files, Images, ControlTemplates)needs to be updated(best
approach is to Re-Create the Solution in Visual Studio 2012).In 15 hive ,
files in Layouts directory has a Path with ’15′ added to it.<br />
<br />
For example path of a Custompage in 14 and 15 hive would be -<br />
14 Hive path – _/layouts/Custompage.aspx<br />
15 Hive path – _/layouts/<span style="color: red;"><strong>15</strong></span>/Custompage.aspx<br />
Notice the reference of 15 in _layouts folder reference in 15
Hive.This is reason you need to update paths of all the deployed files
such as Features, Layouts-files, Images, ControlTemplates if the
solutions is targeted to be deployed in 15 Hive.<br />
<br />
<strong><a href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/2012/10/31/sharepoint-2013-deploy-solutions-to-14-and-15-hive-with-install-spsolution/"><b>Compatibility Level</b></a> -</strong> In addition to <em>SharePointVersion=”15.0″</em>
attribute,with the new “CompatabilityLevel” parameter of Install
-SPSolution cmdlet you can now deploy your .wsp or Solution to either 14
hive, 15 hive or both using the Powershell itself.This “Compatibility
Level” value overrides SharePointProductVersion specified in manifest of
the solution and it is only way with which solutions can be installed
in both 14 & 15 Hive.<br />
<br />
Compatibility Level Impacts only files deployed to the Templates
folder in the 14/15 Root folder i.e. Features, Layouts-files, Images,
ControlTemplates, etc.The files deployed Outside of this folder (e.g. a
WCF Service) will be deployed to the 15/ISAPI regardless of the Manifest
or PowerShell Compatibility level settings of the wsp-package. Files
such as Assemblies in GAC/Bin and certain resource files will also be
deployed to the same location regardless of the Compatibility Level.<br />
<br />
<strong>Bin Directory Considerations -</strong><br />
Also, you can no longer add partial trust solution packages to the \bin
directory.Any files deployed to the \bin directory must be full trust.<br />
<strong>GAC Considerations -</strong> After the Release of .NET Framework 4.0, the GAC was split into two, one for each CLR.<br />
c:\windows\assembly is the location for .NET versions 1.0 through 3.5 and<br />
c:\windows\microsoft.net\assembly is location for all the dlls for project Created in .NET Framework 4.0.<br />
Consider looking into new Location if you have Created your project in Visual Studio 2012. <br />
For these reasons and more it is Recommended to Re-Create a Solution
in Visual Studio 2012, Re-add all the features,Components and then
deploy it to SharePoint 2013 in 15 hive.<br />
<h4>
Sandbox Solutions -</h4>
Sandbox solutions are upgraded with the Content databases.<br />
<h4>
Fabulous 40 templates in SharePoint 2013 -</h4>
As per MSDN, Microsoft is not Creating any New Versions of these
Fabulous 40 Templates. The Old Sites based on these templates can be
upgraded only if the Templates are Installed successfully in SharePoint
2013.You can try installing wsp of Fab 40 with CompatabilityLevel as 15
and upgrade the existing site collections.<br />
<h4>
Master pages and CSS files -</h4>
Master Pages and Css has Changed a lot in SharePoint 2013.You can
deploy a master page in Master page gallery but the styles from old
core.css needs to be updated.<br />
<h4>
Themes -</h4>
Re-create your themes following the SharePoint 2013 theming guidance, or select a new theme available in SharePoint 2013.<br />
<h4>
Site definition -</h4>
Migrate sites to a supported, predefined site definition, then apply
Custom features by using Solution deployment.You can also Continue to
use a Custom site definition. You do not have to create a new site
definition that is based on SharePoint 2013.</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8509383685242132753.post-30364365032097021902013-04-06T20:09:00.004-07:002013-04-06T20:09:43.075-07:00Create JavaScript Display Template in SharePoint 2013While working with SharePoint there is a common requirement to Upload
JavaScript Files that you want to use in one of your WebParts or with
the new JS Link property of a List,Field,Form or a WebPart in your
SharePoint 2013 site.<br />
<br />
You can either upload these .js files in the
Styles or Site Asserts Library or you can add it to the Master Page
Gallery as a new <strong><em>JavaScript Display Template (using Display Template Content Type)</em></strong>.
Adding it as a JavaScript Display Template has its own benefits
especially if you are going to use it in JS Link property for targeting a
particular webpart or List.<br />
<br />
<span data-mce-style="text-decoration: underline;" style="text-decoration: underline;"><em><strong>JavaScript Display Template Content Type -</strong> </em></span>This
is a new Content Type Introduced in SharePoint 2013 to Create a new
custom CSR JavaScript Display Template in the Master Page gallery of the
site. JavaScript Display Template Content Type has some special Site
Columns added to it that will help specify the target element
(view,webpart etc..) where the JavaScript File's magic or custom
rendering will be Implemented.<br />
<br />
Lets Look at the Steps to upload a new Js file as a new Javascript Display Template and look at the description of Site Columns.<br />
1. Navigate to the Master Page Gallery (Site Settings -> under Web Designer Galleries -> Master Pages).<br />
2. Select Files tab and then Upload Document.<br />
3. Browse to the new JavaScript file that you have created and select Ok.<br />
<a data-mce-href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Task_Status_Indicators1.png" href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Task_Status_Indicators1.png"><img alt="Task Status Indicators" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-7279" data-mce-src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Task_Status_Indicators1.png" height="64" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Task_Status_Indicators1.png" width="272" /></a><br /> <a data-mce-href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/UploadJs1.png" href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/UploadJs1.png"><img alt="JavaScript Display Template Upload Js" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-7277" data-mce-src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/UploadJs1.png" height="340" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/UploadJs1.png" width="509" /></a><br /> 4. Next select "JavaScript Display Template" in the Content Type drop-down.<br />
<a data-mce-href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Javascriptdisplaytemplate1.png" href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Javascriptdisplaytemplate1.png"><img alt="Add Javascript display template SharePoint 2013" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-7280" data-mce-src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Javascriptdisplaytemplate1.png" height="410" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Javascriptdisplaytemplate1.png" width="508" /></a><br />
5. Next specify the Name, Title, Description properties along with some
special properties like "Target Control Type Standalone,Target Scope
and Target List Template ID" for this new JS file.<br />
<strong><em>Target Control Type -</em></strong>
By description "Target Control Type is the Type of Control that you
will be using in this Display Template or JavaScript File". For example
if your Display Template or JavaScript File will be controlling the

since the link is not directly provided in Site Actions or now called
"Settings" (Wheel) Menu.Adding the required link back in the "Settings"
menu would require you to Create a Custom feature in Visual Studio and
activate that in the desired Site Collection.In this post we will
discuss a step-by-step process on How to Create a Custom Action (or
simply a Link) and add to the "Settings" menu.<br />
<br />
Please note that the Out-of-Box Option to create a Subsite is available in Site Contents menu.See detail <a data-mce-href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/2012/07/17/how-to-create-a-site-in-sharepoint-2013/" href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/2012/07/17/how-to-create-a-site-in-sharepoint-2013/" target="_blank" title="How to Create a site in SharePoint 2013">How to Create a SubSite in SharePoint 2013.</a><br />
To Create a Custom Action for "Settings" menu you would need the following -<br />
<ul>
<li>Visual Studio 2012</li>
<li>Visual Studio 2012 tools for SharePoint</li>
</ul>
Once you have Installed these lets look at the Steps.<br />
<br />
Step 1 - Create a New Empty project.<br />
<br />
<a data-mce-href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/CreateSiteSolution1.jpg" href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/CreateSiteSolution1.jpg"><img alt=""SharePoint 2013 Create Custom Action"" data-mce-src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/CreateSiteSolution1.jpg" height="330" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/CreateSiteSolution1.jpg" title="SharePoint 2013 Create Custom Action " width="547" /></a><br data-mce-bogus="1" /><br />
<br />
Step 2 - Add a Url of your SharePoint site and select deploy as Farm solution.<br /> <a data-mce-href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/createfarmsol.jpg" href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/createfarmsol.jpg"><img alt=""SharePoint 2013 Create farm solution"" data-mce-src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/createfarmsol.jpg" height="355" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/createfarmsol.jpg" title="Create farm solution " width="492" /></a><br />
<br />
Step 3 - Once the project is Created Add a new item "Empty Element".<br /> <a data-mce-href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/addNewItem.jpg" href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/addNewItem.jpg"><img alt=""SharePoint 2013 Add New Item"" data-mce-src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/addNewItem.jpg" height="337" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/addNewItem.jpg" title="SharePoint 2013 Add New Item" width="556" /></a><br />
Create an Empty Element.<br /> <a data-mce-href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/CreateSiteElement2.jpg" href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/CreateSiteElement2.jpg"><img alt=""SharePoint 2013 Create Site Element"" data-mce-src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/CreateSiteElement2.jpg" height="330" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/CreateSiteElement2.jpg" title="SharePoint 2013 Create Site Element" width="493" /></a><br />
<br />
Paste the following in the Elements file.<br />
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><br /> <Elements xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/"><br /> <CustomAction<br /> Id="CreateSite"<br /> GroupId="SiteActions"<br /> Location="Microsoft.SharePoint.StandardMenu"<br /> Sequence="2000"<br /> Title="Create Site"<br /> Description="Create Site Link" ><br /> <UrlAction Url="~site/_layouts/15/newsbweb.aspx"/><br /> </CustomAction><br /> </Elements><br />
Step 4 - Verify if the element file is added to the Feature.<br /> <a data-mce-href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/fetaure2.jpg" href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/fetaure2.jpg"><img alt=""SharePoint 2013 Site Fetaure"" data-mce-src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/fetaure2.jpg" height="392" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/fetaure2.jpg" title="SharePoint 2013 Site Fetaure" width="519" /></a><br />
<br />
Step 5 - Next Run the Project.<br /> <a data-mce-href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/startproject.jpg" href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/startproject.jpg"><img alt=""SharePoint 2013 Start Project"" data-mce-src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/startproject.jpg" height="116" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/startproject.jpg" title="SharePoint 2013 Start Project" width="455" /></a><br />
Press OK if you get the below screen.<br /> <a data-mce-href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/modifywebcongif.jpg" href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/modifywebcongif.jpg"><img alt=""SharePoint 2013 Modify web Config"" data-mce-src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/modifywebcongif.jpg" height="216" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/modifywebcongif.jpg" title="SharePoint 2013 Modify web Config" width="462" /></a><br />
SharePoint will open the site with the URL you provided. Verify that the Settings menu has a Create Site link.<br />
<a data-mce-href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/CreateSiteinSettings.jpg" href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/CreateSiteinSettings.jpg"><img alt=""SharePoint 2013 Create Site in Settings"" data-mce-src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/CreateSiteinSettings.jpg" height="367" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/CreateSiteinSettings.jpg" title=""SharePoint 2013 Create Site in Settings"" width="390" /></a><br data-mce-bogus="1" />Unknownnoreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8509383685242132753.post-55412007795097086522013-03-29T22:57:00.004-07:002013-03-29T22:57:38.778-07:00Create a Visual Webpart in SharePoint 2013Creating a Visual WebPart in SharePoint 2013 is different than what
it was available in SharePoint 2010. In SharePoint 2010, Visual WebPart
was made of a User Control and a Webpart file which were used to define
Controls and define properties of the webpart. In SharePoint 2013
however the Visual WebPart template has Changed. Both the User Control
and WebPart classes are merged to Create one template. <br />
<br />
Also, now you
have one Visual WebPart template that can be used to Create both Sandbox
and Farm solution. In this post we will look at detailed steps on how
to create a Visual WebPart Farm solution and add the wsp to your
SharePoint site.<br />
<br />
<strong><em><span data-mce-style="text-decoration: underline;" style="text-decoration: underline;">Step 1 -</span> </em></strong>Create a SharePoint 2013 Visual WebPart Project.<br />
<br />
<a data-mce-href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/CreateWebpart.jpg" href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/CreateWebpart.jpg"><img alt=""SharePoint 2013 Create Visual Webpart"" class="aligncenter wp-image-5900" data-mce-src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/CreateWebpart.jpg" height="364" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/CreateWebpart.jpg" title="SharePoint 2013 Create Visual Webpart" width="617" /></a><br data-mce-bogus="1" /><br />
<strong><em><span data-mce-style="text-decoration: underline;" style="text-decoration: underline;">Step 2 -</span></em></strong> Next add the Site Url and select deploy as farm.<br /> <a data-mce-href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/DeployasFarm.jpg" href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/DeployasFarm.jpg"><img alt=""SharePoint 2013 Deploy As Farm"" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-5902" data-mce-src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/DeployasFarm.jpg" height="332" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/DeployasFarm.jpg" title="SharePoint 2013 Deploy As Farm" width="455" /></a><br />
<span data-mce-style="text-decoration: underline;" style="text-decoration: underline;"><em><strong>Step 3 -</strong> </em></span>The Solution should look like below.<br /> <a data-mce-href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/SolutionExplorer.jpg" href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/SolutionExplorer.jpg"><img alt=""SharePoint 2013 Solution Explorer"" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-5903" data-mce-src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/SolutionExplorer.jpg" height="398" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/SolutionExplorer.jpg" title="SharePoint 2013 Solution Explorer" width="282" /></a><br />
<br />
<span data-mce-style="text-decoration: underline;" style="text-decoration: underline;"><em><strong>Step 4 -</strong> </em></span>Next add a TextBox in the ascx file and add assign it some text using the Code behind.<br /> <a data-mce-href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/txtBoxCode1.jpg" href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/txtBoxCode1.jpg"><img alt=""SharePoint 2013 Txt Box Code"" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-5910" data-mce-src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/txtBoxCode1.jpg" height="342" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/txtBoxCode1.jpg" title="SharePoint 2013 Txt Box Code" width="610" /></a><br />
<br />
<span data-mce-style="text-decoration: underline;" style="text-decoration: underline;"><em><strong>Step 5 -</strong></em></span> Once you add the Textbox save the project and click Start.<br />
<a data-mce-href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/startproject3.jpg" href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/startproject3.jpg"><img alt=""SharePoint 2013 Start project"" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-5908" data-mce-src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/startproject3.jpg" height="87" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/startproject3.jpg" title="SharePoint 2013 Start project" width="185" /></a><br data-mce-bogus="1" /><br />
<span data-mce-style="text-decoration: underline;" style="text-decoration: underline;"><em><strong>Step 6 -</strong></em></span>
Next navigate to the site and verify if the solution is added to the
Solutions gallery.You can also add the wsp from your project folder in
the Solutions gallery and activate it. See below.<br /> <a data-mce-href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/wsp.jpg" href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/wsp.jpg"><img alt=""SharePoint 2013 wsp"" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-5911" data-mce-src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/wsp.jpg" height="133" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/wsp.jpg" title="SharePoint 2013 wsp" width="580" /></a><br />
Navigate to Site Settings -> Solutions and upload the wsp. Make sure that the solution is Activated.<br /> <a data-mce-href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/activateSolution.jpg" href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/activateSolution.jpg"><img alt=""SharePoint 2013 Activate Solution"" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-5913" data-mce-src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/activateSolution.jpg" height="288" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/activateSolution.jpg" title="SharePoint 2013 Activate Solution" width="468" /></a><br />
<span data-mce-style="text-decoration: underline;" style="text-decoration: underline;"><em><strong>Step 7 -</strong></em></span>
Next Add the Visual Webpart to the page. Create a page using "Add Page"
in Settings menu and edit it. Next click on the Insert tab and select
"Web Part"<br /> <a data-mce-href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/Addwebpart.jpg" href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/Addwebpart.jpg"><img alt=""SharePoint 2013 Add Webpart to page"" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-5914" data-mce-src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/Addwebpart.jpg" height="223" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/Addwebpart.jpg" title="SharePoint 2013 Add Webpart to page" width="468" /></a><br />

in SharePoint 2013.We will use the new Design Manager to Create a
Layout (from an existing one) and then edit it in one of the editors
like Notepad.Once the layout is Created and Uploaded to Master Page
Gallery, you can edit the generated html file in an editor of your
choice and upload it back to the Master Page Gallery.<br />
<br />
If you need
to add SharePoint Field Controls or any other SharePoint Controls such
as search box,navigation etc in your custom layout, you can use the <a data-mce-href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/2013/03/03/how-to-add-snippets-from-snippet-gallery-in-master-pages-layout-pages-in-sharepoint-2013/" href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/2013/03/03/how-to-add-snippets-from-snippet-gallery-in-master-pages-layout-pages-in-sharepoint-2013/" target="_blank" title="How to add Snippets from Snippet Gallery in Master Pages & Layout Pages in SharePoint 2013"><strong>Snippet gallery</strong> to Copy the required field Control code</a>
and paste it into your custom Layout's html file.In this post however
we will only look at an example of Creating a Custom Page Layout and
using it to Create a Custom Page. If you want to edit the page layout
and add a code from <strong>Snippet gallery</strong>, see the upcoming post on 'Add Snippets in Layout Page using Snippet gallery in SharePoint 2013'.<br />
<br />
Before
you begin make sure that you have Publishing Feature enabled on your
site and you see "Deisgn Manager" under Look and feel.<br />
<br />
Lets look at the detailed steps -<br />
<br />
1. Navigate to Site Settings -> Design Manager (under look and feel).<br /> <a data-mce-href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/design-manager.png" href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/design-manager.png"><img alt=""SharePoint 2013 Design Manager"" class="aligncenter wp-image-6776" data-mce-src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/design-manager.png" height="141" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/design-manager.png" title="SharePoint 2013 Design Manager" width="439" /></a><br />
<br />
2. Next in Design Manager select <strong>"6. Edit Page Layouts"</strong> and then <strong>"Create a page layout"</strong><br />
<a data-mce-href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/CreatePageLayout2.png" href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/CreatePageLayout2.png"><img alt=""Create Page Layout Design manager 2013"" class="aligncenter wp-image-6784" data-mce-src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/CreatePageLayout2.png" height="133" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/CreatePageLayout2.png" title="CreatePageLayout Design manager 2013" width="400" /></a><br data-mce-bogus="1" /><br />
<br />

<a data-mce-href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/CreateCustomPageLayout.png" href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/CreateCustomPageLayout.png"><img alt=""Create Custom Page Layout sharepoint 2013"" class="aligncenter wp-image-6786" data-mce-src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/CreateCustomPageLayout.png" height="425" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/CreateCustomPageLayout.png" title="Create Custom Page Layout sharepoint 2013" width="578" /></a><br data-mce-bogus="1" /><br />
4.
When the Layout is Created, it gets available in "Edit Page Layouts"
list and the "Master Page gallery" of the site.The Layout Page will be
in Drafts mode until you publish it as a major version.<br />
<br />
<a data-mce-href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Pagecreated.png" href="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Pagecreated.png"><img alt=""SharePoint 2013 Create Layout Page"" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-6791" data-mce-src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Pagecreated.png" height="69" src="http://www.learningsharepoint.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Pagecreated.png" title="SharePoint 2013 Create Layout Page" width="572" /></a><br data-mce-bogus="1" /><br />
5.
Next Edit the New Layout Page and save the Changes.In SharePoint 2013
for every Layout page two files - .aspx and html are created by default.<br />

With Hover panel each result is quick and easy to find and read. <br />
<br />
When you search something, In the results it contains only key pieces of metadata
common to most results, such as the title, URL, and hit-highlighted
summary. These compact, streamlined results enable users to easily scan
the page. Then, when the user wants to learn more about a result, they
can hover their cursor over that result to see the hover panel dialog
box. The hover panel contains rich metadata that enables users to
investigate a result more thoroughly, without having to click through
and load the document.Some important metadata displayed in the hover panel - file type, the
date the result was last edited, the people who have edited it recently,
and view counts (so you can see how often a document was viewed). <br />
In addion to the Metadata it also displays Section headings and slide titles that are inside of a
document, under the heading "Take a look inside. These are called "deep links" and you can see them in the hover
panel. Even cooler, these
headings and titles are links—clicking through will take you directly to
that section (or slide) in the document! Now, users can search across
millions of documents, and with a single click, zoom right in to one
specific section of one document.
